When lonely farmer Chris Lowe (William Hartnell) marries a chorus girl from the big city (Carol Raye as Molly Lowe), things go downhill fast. Bringing Molly to the farm, Chris fears she will get restless, and so buys her a strawberry roan calf to care for. Adjusting to rural life and a small community proves difficult, and Molly never settles into farm life. She begins to spend money to excess, deeply hurting Chris financially. Her next move will irrevocably hurt her and Chris, forever. Based on the 1932 novel of the same name by A. G. Street.
