But instead of new recruits itchin to join, the new improvements just get laughs, and though pirate isn't bothered by yellow-bellied landlubbers insulting his ship, he'll accept absolutely NO insulting of his fine, feathered Ground Parrot!

Disappointed but determined, Pirate & Penguin set off once again. Only then do they realize that their unconventional upgrades might not have attracted four pirate-y pairs of strong arrrrrrrms, but they did call to an eight-legged creature who just might suit their crew even better.

Mike Allegra knew not long after penning Pirate & Penguin that the pair's hilarious high-seas hijinks couldn't be contained to a single book, and that future adventures would call for more crew members. He would have joined the crew himself except, well, books and water don't exactly mix. He's written a number of other books for children, including Sleepy Happy Capy Cuddles (Page Street Kids) and Scampers Thinks Like a Scientist (Sourcebooks).
